Crew availability during the critical Peak Season time is imperative – THANK YOU to the 9,000 hard-working frontline craft professionals who earned attendance policy recognition credits for working the recent two-day Thanksgiving holiday.Heading into the Christmas and New Year holidays,
availability remains imperative. UP continues to acknowledge TE&Y craft professionals who answer the call, playing a pivotal role Building America by safely delivering millions of packages on time, through a new raffle giving away 13 pick-up trucks, one to be awarded in each service unit.
“For the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, TE&Y team members who stay marked up for the full 12-day period will be entered into a raffle to win a $75,000 truck,” said David Giandinoto, senior vice president-Operations, Transportation, Southern Region. “This is an exciting way to recognize the team – we’re drawing a name in every service unit!”
Additionally, holiday recognition credits will again be awarded to TE&Y craft professionals, regardless of assigned board, under the following guidelines:
On-duty at any time on Christmas Eve – earn a 4-point holiday recognition credit.
On-duty at any time on Christmas Day – earn an 8-point holiday recognition credit.
On-duty at any time on New Year’s Eve – earn a 2-point holiday recognition credit.
On-duty at any time on New Year’s Day – earn a 4-point holiday recognition credit.
“Holidays can be tricky for a company that operates 24/7/365,” Giandinoto said. “We understand our team members want to spend time with family and friends, so we want to recognize those who come to work and enable us to meet the commitments we’ve made to our customers.”
Additional details, including official holiday recognition raffle rules – eligibility, qualifications, etc. – will be soon shared with TE&Y employees via MyUP Portal message. A list of winners will be available after Jan. 16, 2023.
Along with additional attendance policy enhancements, UP continues evaluating opportunities in all quality-of-life workstreams, including sourcing strategy, scheduled work and access to earned compensated days off. Progress will continue being shared into the new year.
